Get Inspired! Here's what trends are big on the home front this year...
1. MATT BLACK Nothing creates a sense of drama better than black. Expect to see bold, high-contrast designs all over your Instagram feeds in 2019, as matt black moves from fashion and beauty into homewares and interiors. Lighting, seating, home décor objects and sideboards are all key pieces you can introduce to reference the trend. This one is likely to be with us for a long time, as well as a good time.
2. SUSTAINABLE & NATURAL FABRICS
Sustainable and natural fabrics are going to be a key trend that will hit the mainstream in 2019. Look for it in upholstered furniture, throws, cushions and tapestries. Think 'Less Is More" and be strategic and purposeful when purchasing.
3. MINIMALISM & CLEAN LINES
When a space has too many things going on–to the point where you can barely utilise a surface area for function–it creates chaos! As minimalism continues to blaze a clutter-free path through the interiors world, it is creating a demand for clean lines and a sense of openness across the whole house.
4.GO GREEN
There is great interest in emphasising the relationship between humankind and nature, and the connections between the two. Natural, organic materials–such as wood floors, stone, daylight and plant life–remind us of the exterior and brings the outdoors in. Don't consider yourself a green thumb? Go for easy-to-care for succulents, cactus, devil's ivy, money tree or dichondra silver falls.
5. FOUR POSTER BEDS
Add a dash of romance and elegance to your bedroom with a four-poster bed. It's the closest thing to getting a hug from a piece of furniture, creating a sense of comfort & safety.
6. GOLD & MORE GOLD
The metallic finish has had a revamp and it's predicted to come at us in a major way this year. With finishes covering gold patinas, black gold and bright golds being paired with raw natural finishes and high-end appliances, gold has never looked so good.
7. ACRYLIC FURNITURE
Give a room the architectural structure it needs without taking up visual real estate. We see acrylic as a great foundational piece in a small space, like an entry, layer up with organic items and don't make it feel too busy.
8. RICH COLOUR PALETTE
2019 will be a year where bolder colours are preferred. Richer hues throughout your home can make your more muted furnishings and decorative decor pop. Lookout for dramatic reds, statement pinks, bold yellows and organic greens.
JUST REMEMBER...
Trends are inspiring and act as a guide when you are about to decorate or update a space, but the most important design expert you can ever bring on board to a project is… you (or us)! Decorate your space with the things that are valuable to you, remind you of good times or just represent your personality. Trust yourself and enjoy the space you create!
